Fishpool Holiday Park is perfectly placed for guests who want to spend time outdoors, with Delamere Forest, the Sandstone Trail and quiet Cheshire countryside all close by. Whether you are planning a gentle woodland walk, a longer day on the trail or a family cycle ride, there is plenty to explore without travelling far from the park.
Sandstone Trail
The Sandstone Trail is one of the best-known long-distance walks in North West England. It runs for around 34 miles from Frodsham to Whitchurch, following Cheshire’s central sandstone ridge and passing through woodland, farmland, old villages and elevated viewpoints.
From Fishpool Holiday Park, guests are close to the trail just before its halfway point, making it a strong choice for a full walking day or a shorter circular route. Along the way, walkers can enjoy views towards landmarks such as Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle, as well as classic Cheshire countryside, caves, canals, country inns and cafe stops.
Delamere Forest Walks
Delamere Forest offers more than 2,400 acres of woodland, with routes for different ages and energy levels. The Linmere Trail is a gentle family-friendly walk, passing some of the forest’s most popular spots. The Blakemere Trail is a peaceful option for wildlife lovers and bird watchers, with mature trees and views towards Blakemere Moss.
For guests who want a short but more challenging walk, the Old Pale Trail climbs to wide views across the surrounding counties. The Whitefield area is also worth exploring, with trails designed around natural play, fitness, wellbeing and quiet reflection.
Cycling in Delamere
Delamere Forest is also a good place for relaxed cycling. Marked forest road routes give families and casual riders a simple way to enjoy the woodland, while more confident riders can explore the wider network of trails and tracks.
It is easy to turn a walk or cycle into a slower day out: start from the visitor centre, stop for refreshments, explore the forest and return to Fishpool Holiday Park for a quiet evening close to the countryside.
